The B-C government has announced an additional 10 million dollars in provincial funding to support communities in their recovery from the 2018 wildfire season. The new funding is in addition to 3 million dollars raised through public and province-matched Red Cross donations, along with other public donations. Public Safety Minister Mike Farnworth says B-C is facing a long-term and complicated recovery process for the second year in a row and the impacts to communities in 2018 were significant. The funding will be used to carry out recovery efforts including debris removal on private land, refrigerator disposal and replacement and health and wellness supports.
