A man is recovering in a Victoria hospital after surviving for several days in his crushed truck when it veered off the road and over a cliff near Sayward. Twenty-three-year-old Duncan Moffat suffered a severely fractured thigh bone, other broken bones and internal injuries but his grandfather says Moffat is doing very well thanks to the “one-in-a-million” discovery of his vehicle by a passing hunter. Moffat’s uncle, Bill Macnab, says his nephew was out of touch with the family for nearly 10 days and believes he was stuck in the truck for at least five, surviving on apples that he had picked earlier at his father’s house in Sayward. Campbell River RCMP say the crash is under investigation but didn’t have an further details.
