Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation says B-C’s rental vacancy rate is slightly better than the survey it took last year at 1.4 per cent, but the province still has some of the lowest vancancy rates in the country. C-M-H-C singled out Vancouver at 1 per cent, Abbotsford-Mission at 1.4 per cent and Victoria at 1.2 per cent as some of the lowest vacancy rates in Canada. B-C also had the largest increases in rental costs with Kelowna up 9.4 per cent, Victoria increased by 7.6. per cent, Abbotsford-Mission went up by 8.2 per cent and Vancouver’s rents were boosted by 5.5 per cent. Vancouver also had the highest rents at an average 16-hundred and 49 dollars for a two-bedroom apartment when the national average was just over one-thousand dollars.
