The natural-gas supplier to homes and businesses around British Columbia says customers can go back to normal use now, following two months of conservation since a massive explosion and fire in an Enbridge gas pipeline northeast of Prince George. FortisBC had asked consumers to turn down the thermostat as supplies were limited to 50 to 80 per cent of normal levels since the early October blast — the cause of which has yet to be determined. The utility announced Tuesday that increased pipeline capacity, some warmer weather and conservation efforts have allowed the supply to reach normal levels, though it’s asking people to remain mindful of their energy use.
