Smoke from British Columbia’s forest fires has been labelled the top weather story by Environment Canada this year. There were more than 250-thousand lightning strikes in southern B-C between April and August. The resulting huge wildfires produced smoke that spread from coast to coast and was even detected as far away as Europe. Senior climate scientist for Environment Canada David Phillips says it was too dry and too hot for too long in B-C.
