A 10-month investigation aimed at associates of the Red Scorpions gang has resulted in the arrest of several people and the seizure of cash, illegal drugs and weapons. Nanaimo R-C-M-P say the case began last April when a home in Nanaimo was identified as a drug sales and distribution hub, and a raid at the property turned up firearms, cash and nearly 300 grams of suspected fentanyl. Three men were arrested in that bust and the case led investigators to several other locations in Nanaimo, Vancouver and Richmond where they seized thousands in cash, 14 kilograms of marijuana and more than over 3 kilograms of cocaine, crystal meth and fentanyl. Police say the three men originally charged remain before the courts, more arrests are expected — and a news conference will be held this afternoon in Nanaimo to discuss the complex case.
