The Canadian Taxpayers Federation has launched an online petition calling on B-C politicians to reduce taxes at the gas pump. The group’s B-C director says the petition calls on Premier John Horgan to cancel the B-C carbon tax, reduce the TransLink Tax — and give up the fight against the Trans Mountain pipeline expansion that could push prices even higher if the new Alberta government restricts the flow of oil. The call for tax relief comes as gas prices in some parts of the province have hit more than $1.78 per litre — which the C-T-F says is the highest in all of North America. The federation says Metro Vancouver drivers are paying 50 cents more per litre of gas than drivers in Seattle.
