B-C Utilities Commission has been asked to investigate why gas prices in Metro Vancouver and Vancouver Island are increasingly out of line with the rest of Canada. Premier John Horgan says the commission will explore why gas prices in those regions have shot up by 40 cents a litre in the last few months. He says in a letter to the commission that profit refining margins for Vancouver are double the Canadian average and higher than any other major North American city. Horgan says the commission will have the ability to conduct detailed hearings that will provide residents with the necessary evidence and recommendations for the best path forward.
