Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says he takes B-C’s concerns about his second approval of the Trans Mountain pipeline expansion seriously. Trudeau has given the project a second green light nine months after the Federal Court of Appeal overturned the original federal approval. He says Canada needs to take advantage of its natural resources while they are still needed to pay for the transition to cleaner sources of energy, and every dollar of federal revenue coming from the project will be reinvested in green technology. Trudeau says he understands B-C’s concerns about a spill off its coast and his government’s first priority is to make sure that doesn’t happen, but it’s also made new investments to ensure a quick response in the unlikely event that does occur.
