BC Ferries says the Baynes Sound Connector is undergoing repairs after a prawn trap got caught in one of the cables yesterday.
The MV Quadra Queen 2 will be servicing the route while the repairs are being made. Ferries’ spokesperson Deborah Marshall says they expect to have the repairs completed sometime early this afternoon. In the meantime, the older MV Quadra Queen 2 will be shuttling customers between Vancouver Island and Denman Island. The MV Quadra Queen 2 has about half the capacity of the newer cable ferry.
The crossing of approximately 1900 metres is the longest cable ferry crossing in the world.
