Foreign Affairs Minister Chrystia Freeland won’t say whether Prime Minister Justin Trudeau should apologize for breaking Canada’s ethics laws through his actions in the S-N-C-Lavalin affair.
But speaking in Nova Scotia today, Canada’s top diplomat said Trudeau has her full support and yesterday’s report by the country’s ethics watchdog is a tribute to Canada’s democratic institutions.
Ethics Commissioner Mario Dion concluded that Trudeau improperly pressured then-attorney general Jody Wilson-Raybould to halt the criminal prosecution of the Montreal engineering giant.
The P-M is facing increasing pressure to apologize but says he’s not sorry for trying to protect Canadian jobs.
