The crash of a commercial helicopter in Campbell River has claimed the life of the aircraft’s pilot. The R-C-M-P says the pilot was the only person aboard when the helicopter crashed, and they are not releasing the name of the company or the identity of the victim for privacy reasons. Constable Maury Tyre says the crash happened in the Tyee Spit area and the cause is unknown. WorkSafe B-C, the Transportation Safety Board, and the provincial coroners service are investigating thed Tuesaday morning crash.
