About 45-hundred ambulance paramedics and dispatchers have approved their new contract with B-C Emergency Health Services. Under the three-year deal set to expire in March of 2022, members of CUP-E Local 873 will get consecutive general wage increases of two per cent each year. The Ministry of Finance says in a statement that the negotiated language supports the conversion of on-call and standby positions to new, permanent paramedic jobs in smaller communities. The Ministry says it’s one of several service delivery improvements that support a major transformation of the ambulance service delivery model.
