Monday night’s official English-language leaders’ debate will be the first to feature all six party leaders. The two men the polls currently have as the frontrunners — Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau and Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer — will find themselves on offence and defence as they trade jabs with rival leaders while fending off criticism of their policy plans. The N-D-P’s Jagmeet Singh and the Greens’ Elizabeth May are currently in a battle for third place, and are looking to pick up seats especially on the West Coast. The two other leaders on stage will be the Bloc Quebecois’ Yves-Francois Blanchet and Maxime Bernier of the People’s Party. In a fundraising letter to supporters, Bernier described this debate before a national audience as a potential turning point in his campaign.
