Premier John Horgan says he respects and understands Green Leader Andrew Weaver’s decision to step aside and not seek re-election in the next provincial election. Horgan says Weaver’s legacy will be his work on climate change, including his help developing the CleanB-C plan, which the premier says wouldn’t be as strong without Weaver’s contribution. The Greens reached an agreement with the N-D-P after the last election that allowed the New Democrats to govern with the support of the three Green members of the legislature. Weaver plans to step aside as party leader due to health issues but will not resign his post as an M-L-A, so his decision won’t upset the balance of power.
