A tentative contract agreement has been reached in Vancouver to avert a massive transit strike in Canada’s third-biggest city. The union representing five-thousand Metro Vancouver transit workers reached a deal with Coast Mountain Bus Company and Translink shortly after Unifor’s midnight strike deadline had been extended. Details haven’t yet been released, but the deal averts a planned full-system walkout. Job action started November 1st with mechanics refusing to work overtime and escalated with other workers doing the same once talks broke down nearly two weeks ago.
