Thirty-nine Canadian and American firefighters have arrived in Australia to help with the catastrophic wildfires. New South Wales declared a state of emergency today because of the blazes. It takes effect tomorrow and Saturday when the heat and the wind are expected to be at their worst. A statewide total fire ban will be in place on those days. Earlier, New South Wales authorities ordered a mass relocation of tourists along the south coast this morning. In Victoria, the Australian army is delivering supplies to people cut off by wildfires from their homes.
