Transportation Minister Claire Trevena says her government has delivered on a promise to get new ride hailing services on the road. The province’s Passenger Transportation Board today granted licences to Uber and Lyft to operate in the Lower Mainland and Whistler. The world’s two largest ride-hailing companies still need to apply for business licences before they’re allowed to starting picking people up. But Vancouver Mayor Kennedy Stewart says the turnaround for those licenses is three days or less and Uber says in an email that it will be “live in Vancouver” in the next few days
