The Trial Lawyers Association of B-C says a move by the B-C government to curtail legal costs at the public auto insurer will put injured and vulnerable people at risk. The province announced today that it will severely restrict people’s ability to sue at-fault drivers or the Insurance Corporation of B-C after a crash. It says the move will lower premiums by about 20 per cent, or an average of 400 dollars per driver, while increasing maximum benefits to 7.5 million dollars. But the lawyers’ association says the government is taking away the legal rights of B-C residents while protecting I-C-B-C management who created the mess in the first place.
