Both sides in a long-simmering northern B-C pipeline dispute have reached a proposed arrangement following several days of intense talks — just not on the subject of pipelines. Details of the deal between Wet’suwet’en (wet-SOO’-wet-en) hereditary chiefs and senior government ministers — both federal and provincial — are not being released pending a review by the Wet’suwet’en people. Chief Woos, one of the hereditary leaders, called the draft a milestone for everyone, but added — quote — the “degree of satisfaction is not what we expected.” He says the hereditary chiefs remain opposed to a pipeline in their traditional territory.
