Canada’s top public health official says COVID-19 poses a serious health risk to all Canadians. Doctor Theresa Tam — in her strongest language yet — says there’s only a narrow window to ”flatten the curve” or suppress the outbreak. She repeated previous government advice to avoid travel outside of Canada, self-isolate for 14 days if returning from a trip abroad, and practise social distancing. Tam is raising the risk level as Alberta warns the virus is circulating locally. The province is reporting 17 new cases, for a total of 56, two of which came from an ”unknown source.”
