Ottawa is spending 1.1-billion-dollars for a national medical and research strategy. Close to one-third of the money is aimed at expanding national testing and modelling to better prevent the spread of COVID-19, while a vaccine is in development. It includes 115-million-dollars for additional research on vaccines and treatments. The bulk will go toward clinical trials to test those vaccines and treatments as they are developed.
