Seniors eligible for the Old Age Security pension, the Guaranteed Income Supplement, or Allowances will receive a one-time tax-free payment this week.
Seniors who reside in the country can expect the payment by direct deposit or cheque this week, whereas seniors who reside outside the country can expect the payment sometime in July.
BC’s Seniors Advocate Isobel MacKenzie says the money will be especially crucial for the low-income elderly across the province, which accounts for around 30% of the senior population.
