Ottawa and the provinces and territories have reached a deal on billions of dollars in transfers to continue re-opening economies amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The prime minister says the federal government will kick in 19-billion-dollars under the ”Safe Restart Agreement.” Justin Trudeau says some of the cash is earmarked specifically for public transit. The money is also to help lower-tier governments pay for things like child care and personal protective equipment and to prepare for a possible second wave of infections.
