Courtenay city council has approved a pilot project to temporarily close 5th street to vehicle traffic this Saturday, July 25th.
The closure will run from Cliffe Avenue to England Avenue.
The project was a request of the Downtown Courtenay Business Improvement Association, to improve the vibrancy of the downtown core.
If all goes well this Saturday, the pilot project will run every Saturday through September 12th.
According to a D.C.B.I.A. survey, 73% of respondents support this type of road closure.
