B-C’s health minister says the province won’t be making specific changes in response to the latest COVID-19 variant of concern out of southern Africa. Adrian Dix says the Omicron variant only proves that residents need to continue to be vigilant and get their vaccinations. He says 400-thousand people already have the added protection of a booster dose and the province is a world-leader in genome sequencing of COVID variants. B-C reported 11 more deaths today along with 970 new COVID-19 cases over a three-day period. A statement from the Ministry of Health says 91.1 per cent of eligible people 12 and over have received their first vaccination, while 87.8 per cent have had both doses. It says there are 303 people in hospital and 115 of those are in intensive care.
