The Williams Lake First Nation says an initial geophysical investigation around a former residential school has identified 93 “reflections” that could indicate human remains. But Chief Willie Sellars says more work is needed to make final determinations and only excavations would confirm the presence of human remains. Sellars also says less than three per cent of land around the former Saint Joseph’s Mission Residential School has been examined so far. It’s part of a process to discover what happened to children who did not return home after the discovery last year of what are believed to be 215 unmarked graves at a former residential school in Kamloops.
