B-C’s minimum wage climbs by 45 cents on Wednesday, to $15.65 per hour. A statement from the Ministry of Labour says the boost makes the minimum wage the highest among all provinces. It says the increase is tied to average annual inflation in B-C, which was calculated at 2.8 per cent between January 1st and December 31st of last year. Numbers from the province show just over 136-thousand workers — or six per cent of employees — made minimum wage last year and, of those, almost 60 per cent were women and just over half were over the age of 25.
