Voters in Saturday’s civic elections have had their say. Here are some of the unofficial results from across the region. Voters in Cumberland have elected a new mayor. Vickey Brown beat out incumbent Leslie Baird. The elected councillors are Jesse Ketler, Sean Sullivan, Troy Theirren and Neil Borecky. Kermit Dahl will be Campbell River’s new mayor taking over from Andy Adams who decide not to seek re-election. Those voted-in as councillors include, Susan Sinnot, Ben Lanyon, Sean Smyth, Ron Kerr, Doug Chapman and Tanille Johnston. In Courtenay, Bob Wells will serve a second term as mayor. The rest of council will be Doug Hillian, Will Cole-Hamilton, Evan Jolicoeur, Melanie McCollum, Wendy Morin and David Frisch. Incoming Comox Mayor Nicole Minions, who ran uncontested, says she’s looking forward to working with the new council. The remainder of town council will be Jonathan Kerr, Jen Meilleur, Steve Blacklock, Maureen Swift, Ken Grant and Chris Haslett. In Powell River, Ron Woznow is elected as mayor. The council will consist of Rob Southcott, Jim Palm, Trina Isakson, Cindy Elliott, George Doubt and Earl Almeida.
