The British Columbia government has announced the provincial minimum wage is going up to $16.75 an hour as of June 1st. Labour Minister Harry Bains says having a minimum wage that keeps up with inflation is a key step to prevent the lowest paid workers from falling behind. The government says the 6.9 per cent increase from the current minimum wage of $15.65 an hour reflects B-C’s average annual inflation rate in 2022. The same increase will apply to those working as residential caretakers, live-in home-support workers and camp leaders.
