The Esso gas station on Anderton Road in Comox has been destroyed by fire. Comox Fire Rescue Chief Gord Schreiner says the Saturday night blaze began as a car fire that spread to the main building. Schreiner immediately called for mutual aid from Courtenay and Cumberland fire rescue. He says the fire departments managed to stop the blaze from spreading to nearby structures. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
