The Queen of Rock n’ Roll has died. Tina Turner was 83. The chart-topper was known for her trademark growling contralto, her iconic wigs and quick-stepping legs. After escaping her marriage to Ike Turner physically battered, emotionally devastated and financially ruined, she became a superstar on her own in her 40s. Her life became the basis for a film, a Broadway musical and an H-B-O documentary in 2021 that she called her public farewell.
