B-C government has filed a constitutional lawsuit over a new Alberta government bill that would limit fuel being sent to the province. Alberta’s fuel-restriction law is meant to punish B-C over its opposition to the Trans Mountain pipeline project and its move a few weeks ago to get a court to decide if B-C has the right to limit the flow of bitumen through its boundary. B-C Attorney General David Eby is challenging the constitutionality of Alberta’s power to turn off the fuel taps. Alberta Premier Rachel Notley sees some irony in B-C’s position, saying — quote — “on one hand they don’t want our oil, and on the other hand, they’re suing us to give them our oil.”
