Premier John Horgan says the province is investing 240 million dollars over three years to increase staffing levels in residential care homes. Horgan says the change will ensure seniors are getting the care they need and deserve. The average direct care seniors received was 3.11 hours per-resident day in 2016 but the funding will increase that average to 3.24 hours by next year and it will reach 3.36 hours by 2021 in each health authority. Horgan says it will mark the first time the 3.36 average has been reached since the Health Ministry set the target almost 10 years ago.
