Premier John Horgan says the L-N-G Canada project in northern B-C will help a region that needs jobs. Horgan describes the planned liquefied natural gas plant in Kitimat and pipeline from northeastern B-C as a “generational opportunity” for the north that he says could not be passed up. But Green party Leader Andrew Weaver says there may be as little as 100 permanent jobs at L-N-G Canada and he believe the province can create far more employment in other industries that won’t drastically increase carbon emissions. Horgan’s minority government is in power due with support from the Green party but the premier suggests legislative changes needed for the project will pass with the help of the Liberals — saying he doesn’t think partisan politics will get in the way.
