The head of the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police says people should not expect to see a big crackdown on unlicenced pot shops come Wednesday. Vancouver Chief Constable Adam Palmer says he hasn’t heard of any police departments planning raids of illegal dispensaries the day pot becomes legal. Palmer says he thinks there likely won’t be a big change in what police are doing in the days right after legalization. He adds that while Canadians are heading into “uncharted waters” this week, police are ready because they have been policing cannabis-impaired drivers and illicit grow-ops for years.
