BC Building Code Changes

The B-C government is changing the provincial building code to double the height allowance for wood construction buildings. The change will allow the buildings to reach 12 storeys high — up from the current six storeys. Premier John Horgan says wood construction buildings are fire resistant, environmentally sustainable and add value to timber products. He also says the change comes one year ahead of the same expected increase in allowable height in the national building code.
