A new scientific report on climate change says Canada is warming up at double the speed of the rest of the world. The report from Environment and Climate Change Canada says the average temperature in Canada is 1.7-degrees Celsius higher today than it was 70 years ago. The Canadian Arctic has been hit even harder with a 2.3-Celsius increase, creating a risk that by 2050, most marine regions in the North will be ice-free for at least a month at a time. The news came the same day Ottawa imposed a carbon tax on four provinces that refused to set their own emissions pricing to push pollution reduction.
