Annual Stage 1 restrictions are in effect as of May 1, 2019 for users of the Comox Valley Water System. Stage 1 restrictions take effect every year on May 1, when watering days are set to certain days of the week.
In 2018, the CVRD implemented changes to its Water Conservation bylaw to reduce consumption of water and make it easier for residents to comply with annual water restrictions. These changes are not only important from a conservation perspective, but it also helps to prepare users of the Comox Valley Water System for the shift to Stage 2 when lake levels begin to decrease.
