An inquiry into soaring gas prices in B-C will be required to deliver it’s final report by August 30th. The deadline is included in the terms of reference released today for the utilities commission’s examination of factors affecting prices at the pump. Premier John Horgan says in a statement that the commission will have the power to compel oil company representatives to explain their prices and will also investigate possible competition concerns such as price fixing or gouging. Horgan says the terms of reference provide the broad reach needed to find answers that people in B-C deserve about the alarming and rapid increase in gas prices in the province.
