B-C’s minimum wage will jump to 13 dollars and 85 cents an hour on June 1st, up from the current 12-dollars and 65 cents. Rates for liquor servers, resident caretakers and live-in camp leaders will also increase at the same time. The wage hikes for B-C’s lowest paid workers are the second of four increases slated to happen every June in B-C until 2021. The higher wages were recommendations from the Fair Wages Commission, set up in 2017 to advise the government on raising provincial minimum wages.
