Eight days of golden anniversary celebrations kicks off on Tuesday to mark each day of Apollo 11’s voyage to the moon 50 years ago. Apollo 11’s astronauts are returning to the launch complex at Florida’s Kennedy Space Centre from where they blasted off in a Saturn V rocket for humanity’s first moon landing. NASA has invited surviving astronauts Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins to the event. Mission commander Neil Armstrong, who took the first lunar footsteps, died in 2012.
