Federal NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh made a campaign stop in Campbell River this morning, then continued on to Courtenay.
Singh touted promises of affordable housing, universal pharmacare and ending the war on drugs.
Singh pledged to build 500,000 affordable houses across the country over the next decade. He says the federal Liberals have talked the talk on the ‘housing crisis’ in the country, but have actually spent less than Stephen Harper’s Conservative government did.
Singh says, if elected, he would offer rental subsidies of up to $5,000 each to provide immediate help for families struggling to pay for housing. The NDP Leader says the issue of affordable housing is not just a Toronto or Vancouver issue, but a country-wide problem.
