Mushroom poisonings are on the rise in B-C and the centre for disease control is urging foragers to take extra care. There have been 2001 poisonings up to the end of September, just one short of all reported poisonings in the province last year. Raymond Li, a pharmacist with the poison centre, says two-thirds of the poisoning calls were connected to children under five. The centre says death cap mushrooms have been increasingly popping up on southern Vancouver Island, the Gulf Islands, Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley.
