The Governor General will deliver the Liberal government’s throne speech on Thursday, kick starting the 43rd sitting of Canada’s parliament. Julie Payette will read the P-M-O penned document in the Senate chamber, following a ceremony of stately to-ing and fro-ing between the House of Commons and the Senate. This will be the first throne speech since Parliament’s iconic Centre Block was closed for massive renovations — meaning buses will be deployed to ferry M-Ps between chambers. The speech is expected to highlight commitments that appeal to the more progressive parties, since the minority Liberals will need the support to survive.
