The B-C government says students won’t return to classrooms on September 8th as originally planned. Education Minister Rob Fleming says he expects students to return to the classrooms a few days afterwards, after staff and teachers have a chance to prepare. The announcement comes after teachers and administration staff had voiced concerns about the lack of clarity surrounding B-C’s return to school. Teri Mooring, the president of the B-C Teachers’ Federation, says she’s hoping for more clarity on the province’s plan for classrooms. She says the emphasis should be on the safety of staff and students. The announcement of a phased-in approach to returning to classrooms comes as Health Minister Adrian Dix and provincial health officer Doctor Bonnie Henry said in a joint statement on Tuesday that community transmission of COVID-19 affects schools.
