The federal government has signed agreements with two more American drugmakers to get Canadians access to their potential COVID-19 vaccines.
Like the drugs being developed by Pfizer and Moderna, vaccines being tested by both Johnson * Johnson and Novavax are in either Phase 2 or 3 clinical trials.
Vaccines won’t be purchased from any of the companies unless they are deemed safe and effective by Health Canada.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made the announcement this morning at a new biomanufacturing facility in Montreal, where some of the doses of whatever vaccine is approved may be produced.
