Solicitor General Mike Farnworth says I-C-B-C is asking for the largest decrease in basic auto insurance premiums in 40 years. Farnworth says the public auto insurer is asking the B-C Utilities Commission to approve a 15-per-cent reduction in basic rates. I-C-B-C says drivers will see an average reduction of 20 per cent or about 400 dollars starting in May after a new system of enhanced coverage takes effect. Farnworth says the new coverage will help lower rates by taking 1.5 billion dollars in legal costs out of the system.
