Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his wife Sophie Gregoire Trudeau have decided to separate after 18 years of marriage. They announced the decision on Instagram, saying it follows what they describe as many meaningful and difficult conversations. The two met as children and reconnected as adults when they co-hosted a charity gala in 2003. Trudeau is the second prime minister to announce a separation while in office — the first was his father.
