BC’s Education Minister is giving teachers more time to adjust to the new curriculum for students in grades 10 to 12. Mike Bernier says teachers are being given a one year extension to refine the program and provide their feedback. “This is something that they have asked for,” states Bernier. “This will allow and extra time period for teachers as they transition and work with the new curriculum before the full implementation in the 2018/19 school year. Bernier also says the Foundation Skills Assessment given to students in grades four and seven, will be moved up to provide an earlier snapshot of how students are progressing.
